# Application Gallery

The Application Gallery features COMSOL Multiphysics® tutorial and demo app files pertinent to the electrical, structural, acoustics, fluid, heat, and chemical disciplines. You can use these examples as a starting point for your own simulation work by downloading the tutorial model or demo app file and its accompanying instructions.

Search for tutorials and apps relevant to your area of expertise via the Quick Search feature. To download the MPH-files, log in or create a COMSOL Access account that is associated with a valid COMSOL license. Note that many of the examples featured here can also be accessed via the Application Libraries that are built into the COMSOL Multiphysics® software and available from the File menu.

### Bracket - Transient Analysis

The bracket models are used as an introduction to structural mechanics modeling with the Structural Mechanics Module. The following features are introduced: * The fundamentals: static linear analysis * Parametric study * Including initial strain * Modeling thermal expansion * Adding a rigid connector * Adding spring conditions * Modeling with the *Shell* interface * Transient analysis * ...

### Heating Circuit

Small heating circuits find use in many applications. For example, in manufacturing processes, they heat up reactive fluids. The device in this tutorial example consists of an electrically resistive layer deposited on a glass plate. The layer results in Joule heating when a voltage is applied to the circuit, which results in a structural deformation. The layer’s properties determine the amount ...

### Fluid-Structure Interaction in a Network of Blood Vessels

This model refers to a portion of the vascular system of a young child - the upper part of the aorta artery. The blood vessels are embedded in a biological tissue (the cardiac muscle) and, during the flow of blood, pressure is applied to the internal surfaces producing deformation of the vessel walls. The complete analysis consists of two distinct but coupled procedures: a fluid-dynamics ...

### Piezoacoustic Transducer

A piezoelectric transducer can be used either to transform an electric current to an acoustic pressure field or, the opposite, to produce an electric current from an acoustic field. These devices are generally useful for applications that require the generation of sound in air and liquids. Examples of such applications include phased array microphones, ultrasound equipment, inkjet droplet ...

### Vibration Analysis of a Thick Beam

This model studies free and forced vibrations of a deep beam. The solution for eigenfrequency, frequency response and transient analysis are computed using a Timoshenko beam and compared with analytical results.

### Stress-Optical Effects with Generalized Plane Strain

Planar photonic waveguides in silica (SiO2) have great potential for use in wavelength routing applications. The major problem with this type of waveguide is birefringence. Anisotropic refractive indices result in fundamental mode splitting and pulse broadening. The goal is to minimize birefringence effects by adapting materials and manufacturing processes. One source of birefringence is the use ...

### Wave Propagation in Rock Under Blast Loads

Transient analysis of the wave propagation in rock mass caused by a short duration load on the surface. Such loads are typical during tunnel constructions and other excavations using blasting. The model shows the use of the Low-reflecting boundary conditions to truncate the computational domain to a reasonable size. The results are in very good agreement with those presented in the following ...

### Various Analyses of an Elbow Bracket

The component depicted in this model is part of a support mechanism and is subjected to various mechanical loads. This tutorial model takes you through the steps to carry out a detailed analysis of the part using the Structural Mechanics Module. In the various parts of the example you are introduced to using the available basic analysis types, together with numerous postprocessing ...

### Vibrating Beam in Fluid Flow

A classical flow pattern is the von Kármán vortex street that can form as fluid flows past an object. These vortices may induce vibrations in the object. This problem involves a fluid-structure interaction where the large deformation affect the flow path. The magnitude and the frequencies of the oscillation generated by the fluid around the structure is computed and compared with the values ...

### Vibroacoustic Loudspeaker Simulation: Multiphysics with BEM-FEM

This model shows a full vibroacoustic analysis of a loudspeaker including driver, cabinet, and stand. It lets you apply a nominal driving voltage and extract the resulting sound pressure level in the cabinet and in the outside room, as well as the deformation of the cabinet and driver, for a given frequency. The loudspeaker stand is placed on a hard floor some distance from a wall, which is ...
