The Application Gallery features COMSOL Multiphysics® tutorial and demo app files pertinent to the electrical, structural, acoustics, fluid, heat, and chemical disciplines. You can use these examples as a starting point for your own simulation work by downloading the tutorial model or demo app file and its accompanying instructions.

Search for tutorials and apps relevant to your area of expertise via the Quick Search feature. To download the MPH-files, log in or create a COMSOL Access account that is associated with a valid COMSOL license. Note that many of the examples featured here can also be accessed via the Application Libraries that are built into the COMSOL Multiphysics® software and available from the File menu.

Electrical Heating in a Busbar

This tutorial model of the Joule heating effect in a busbar demonstrates how to synchronize an assembly between the {:proengineer} software and the {:comsolmph} software, how to modify the geometry from {:comsolmph}, and how to run a geometric parametric sweep.

Electrical Heating in a Busbar

This tutorial model of the Joule heating effect in a busbar demonstrates how to synchronize an assembly between Inventor and COMSOL, how to modify the geometry from COMSOL, and how to run a geometric parametric sweep.

Optimization of a Crane Link Mechanism

In complex mechanical systems, it can be challenging to find an optimal (or even good enough) solution only through engineering insight or trial-and-error procedures. Using mathematical optimization methods can then be an efficient path to a better design. In this example, a link mechanism in a crane modeled in the Multibody Dynamics Module is optimized using the Optimization Module. The target ...

Rotating Plate in a Unidirectional Molecular Flow

This model computes the particle flux, number density and pressure on the surface of a plate that rotates in a highly directional molecular flow. The results obtained are compared with those from other, approximate, techniques for computing molecular flows.

Pacemaker Electrode

This model, dealing with the current and potential distribution around one pair of electrodes, demonstrates how to synchronize and modify geometry in SolidWorks by using the LiveLink interface.

Interference Fit Connection in a Mountain Bike Fork

Interference fit is a technique used to join two pipes with each other. One pipe that is larger than the available space is cooled down. Once shrunk it is fitted into the available space of a larger pipe that in turn expands. At the interface a contact pressure builds up that determines the strength of the connection. This type of connection is simulated in a model of a mountain bike fork where ...

Interpolation between points using a COMSOL App

This App will fit a surface through a set of points using Radial Basis Functions and will write out a COMSOL-format file of a smooth NURBS surface that passes through all of the points. The function describing the surface can also be written to a text file. The point data is read in from comma-delimited file and thin-plate spline radial basis functions are used to fit the surface. Up to 5000 ...

Geometric Parameter Optimization of a Tuning Fork

This model computes the fundamental eigenfrequency and eigenmode for a tuning fork that is synchronized from Creo Parametric via the LiveLink interface. The length of the fork is then optimized so that the tuning fork sounds the note A, 440 Hz.

1D Isothermal Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery

This model simulates the discharge of a Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery using the Battery with Binary Electrolyte interface. The geometry is in one dimension and the model is isothermal. The model serves as an introduction to NiMH modeling, and can be further extended to include various side reactions.

Pacemaker Electrode

This model, dealing with the current and potential distribution around one pair of electrodes, demonstrates how to synchronize and modify geometry in Inventor by using the LiveLink interface.
