Inductive Heating of a Steel Billet

A squared billet made of steel is introduced into a coil operating at low frequency.
The process is used in order to make the temperature in a section of the billet homogeneous, since it loses energy faster through the edges than through the lateral boundaries.
It is shown here that heating at such a low frequency is not efficient for overheating the edges, although is is very efficient for warming up the lateral faces.
The simulation assumes a homogeneous temperature at the input, and computes the temperature field with respect to the heating power density induced by the electromagnetic field, and the velocity of the billet travelling through the coil.
