Problem Description

When trying to open a COMSOL model, I get an error message saying "Error: 1095 Failed to load model". Clicking Details reveals an error log that mentions an invalid stream header.

 Error 1095

Solution

Model created in a newer COMSOL version

The most common reason for this error message is that the model was created in COMSOL 4, and you are trying to open it in COMSOL 3.5a or some even earlier version. Upgrading to the latest version of COMSOL Multiphysics will solve the problem. Contact your COMSOL representative for help in upgrading to the latest version.

Corrupt model file

You can also get this error if the model file that you are trying to open is corrupt. If you have received it by email from a colleague, it may have been corrupted during transport. To prevent this from happening, it usually suffices to zip the model before sending it.
