A new work flow in version 4.0

COMSOL Multiphysics version 4.0 is just days away from seeing the light of the day in the shape of a Beta prerelease. We can't wait to get it out to you.
Without telling too much - I don't want to spoil the fun - you're in for a nice surprise. Directly when you start COMSOL you're into the work flow, we call it the COMSOL Desktop. It's an entirely new user interface with tools that guide you through the steps in setting up and running a multiphysics simulation. Instantly you will notice that you get a phenomenal overview, full control of model settings, and easy access to simulation results. After using it for some time it feels like home.
To let you get up to speed quickly using version 4.0 we're setting up a training boot camp. This will take place at the COMSOL Conference that opens two days from now. Feel free to join us. More about the conference here www.comsol.com/conference2009/usa/. There will be conferences held in Milan, Italy and Bangalore, India the weeks to follow.
I hope to see you there.

The conference was great and version 4.0 is outstanding. I am playing with the Beta version and really look forward to the final release.

What do I need to do to become a beta-tester?

The beta version of 4.0 was distributed at the COMSOL conference in Boston a few days ago. As conference attendees, we had the privilege of discovering the new version through presentations and hands-on/tutorial sessions. We also received a copy of the beta version with a 1 month trial. The beta version does not include all the features of the final release.

Just back from the very interesting Milano COMSOL conference. I went down rather skeptical with the idea to "again" change everything in my working habits.
But I must admit, after 2 presenations by Ed Fontes and then Nils Malm, and then starting playing with the new approach in V4beta, the response was clearly a "waouh", this is really interesting.
I found a lot of my current bottlenecks removed, a cleaner approach w.r.t. physics and system (I'm a physicist, but today first of all system enginner and concerned with how to reuse our methodological approach to general "problem solving").
Cleary you get a better system view of your modelling approach, by having a feel of mathematical rigour on he approach (yes still to be finalised and systemised but I feel it's there).
SO to be a beta tester, come to the conferences (next year in Paris for EU, but next week the show goes on in Asia so hurry up you can still manage ;)
